The Supreme Court of Louisiana Historical Society was pleased to again co-sponsor with the A.P. This year’s professionalism program was part of the commemoration of the 1825 Louisiana Civil Code Bicentennial. Michael H. Rubin presented “The Janus-Faced 1825 Civil Code: Legal Professionalism While Looking Backwards Into the Horrific Past and Glancing Forward Into the Future.” This program examined the 1825 Louisiana Civil Code in the light of current professional conduct rules that run counter to several of the 1825 Code’s provisions. As a trial litigator, Mike has handled ground-breaking cases in the areas of finance and secured lending and major multimillion-dollar commercial transactions. This year’s ethics CLE was presented by Anderson O. Dotson III, Louisiana’s Chief Disciplinary Counsel. His presentation was entitled “Town Hall With the Chief Disciplinary Counsel: The Latest on Ethics in Louisiana.” Mr. Dotson provided an overview of current statistics within the Office of Disciplinary Counsel as well as select case law.
