Isaac H. Ryan
Isaac H. “Ike” Ryan recently opened a new law practice, Ike Ryan APLC, a boutique appellate firm. Mr. Ryan handles writs, appeals, and special research projects for his clients and assists Louisiana attorneys in drafting and developing appellate briefs, writ applications, and arguments. He is frequently called upon to attend trial as appellate counsel in high-stakes litigation. Before starting his own firm, Mr. Ryan was a partner at Deutsch Kerrigan for 24 years, and since 2013 has appeared in “The Best Lawyers in America” in five categories: Appellate Practice, Commercial Litigation, Mass Tort Litigation/Class Actions – Defendants, Personal Injury Litigation – Defendants, Product Liability Litigation – Defendants. At the beginning of his career, Mr. Ryan served as law clerk for Justice Jeannette Theriot Knoll for three years on both the Third Circuit Court of Appeal and the Louisiana Supreme Court. Drawing upon decades of experience, Mr. Ryan frequently handles referrals of select appellate cases, and he is frequently called upon to consult with outside counsel in tailoring writ applications for submission to the Louisiana Supreme Court. Mr. Ryan is a member of the bar of every court in the State of Louisiana. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Federal Circuits. Mr. Ryan is a lifelong citizen of New Orleans. He attended Jesuit High School before obtaining a degree in Business Administration and Finance from the University of Southern California. He returned to Louisiana State University for law school, where he honed his skills in writing and research on the Louisiana Law Review, and earned his Juris Doctorate degree. Since 2015, Mr. Ryan has served on the board of the Supreme Court of Louisiana Historical Society, and he is a frequent CLE lecturer on Louisiana appellate matters.
