This CLE program provided an opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of the late Professors Robert A. Pascal, LSU Paul M. Hebert Law School, and Athanassios N. Yiannopoulos, Tulane University Law School, to civil law scholarship worldwide, and the furtherance of its principles. The program provided a forum of appreciation for their body of work that built a solid foundation for civil law research and study for generations to come.
Panel Discussion

Moderator:
Louis R. Koerner, Jr., Attorney, Koerner Law Firm, Houma and New Orleans, specializes in complex litigation and appeals related to maritime and personal injury cases. He serves as Vice President of the LSBA’s Francophone Section, and is a member of the Supreme Court of Louisiana Historical Society.

Panelists:
Paul R. Baier, Secretary of the Supreme Court of Louisiana Historical Society, is the George M. Armstrong, Jr. Professor of Law, Judge Henry A. Politz Professor of Law, and Hermann Moyse, Sr. Professorship, at LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center. He served as a Judicial Fellow at the U.S. Supreme Court, and Executive Director of the Louisiana Commission on the Bicentennial of the U.S. Constitution.

Dr. Olivier Moréteau, Professor of Law, first holder of the Russell B. Long Eminent Scholars Academic Chair, LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center, is the Assistant Dean for International Programs, Director of the Center of Civil Law Studies (CCLS), and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Civil Law Studies. CCLS arranged for the publication of Robert Anthony Pascal: A Priest of Right Order, a collection of his memoirs and best writings, edited by Dr. Moréteau.

Dian Tooley-Knoblett, Jones Walker Distinguished Professor of Law, Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, received her J.D. from LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where she served as Executive Editor of the Louisiana Law Review and graduated Order of the Coif. She has actively participated in law reform in Louisiana, and is the lead editor of the tenth edition of Yiannopoulos’ Civil Law Property Coursebook, and co-author of a West treatise on Louisiana Civil Law Treatise on Sales.

James Etienne Viator was invested as the first Adams & Reese Distinguished Professor of Law in 2002, Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, and still serves in that capacity. He graduated magna cum laude from LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where he was inducted into the Order of the Coif and served as executive editor of the Louisiana Law Review. He was a founding director of the Board of Directors of the Supreme Court of Louisiana Historical Society.
