SCLAHS Mourns the Passing of Board Member Louis D. Curet
Louis D. Curet, loyal Board Member and Chairman of the Supreme Court of Louisiana Historical Society Membership Committee, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2016, surrounded by his family. SCLAHS President Donna D. Fraiche, on behalf of its Board, expressed the following, “It is with great sadness that we express our deepest sympathy upon the passing of our dear friend and loyal board member, Louis Curet. His professional and purposeful life was a great example to us all. The passion with which he expressed his commitment to the Louisiana Supreme Court Historical Society as a member of its Board is part of its history. His articulation of the mission of the Society resounded as he coaxed others to participate. He will be greatly missed. Mr. Curet, without the assistance of email, used the personal touch of relationship and letter writing every year to find new and renewing members. He was our cheerleader and part of the soul of our organization. In addition to prayer, a contribution will be made to the Society in his name where he will be always known as our first Membership Chair.”
His obituary was published by the Advocate, which also published an article about his life and legacy.
Among his many honors and accomplishments, he was inducted into the LSU Alumni Hall of Distinction in 2002. He established a LSU scholarship to honor his own father, A.B. Curet.
