The Supreme Court of Louisiana Historical Society held a courtroom ceremony on the afternoon of December 12th honoring Fourth Judicial District Court Judge Benjamin Jones for his 22 years of service to the Louisiana State judiciary. Chief Justice Bernette Johnson was joined by the Associate Justices of the Supreme Court and SCLAHS board members Chief Judge Wendell Manning and Treasurer Benjamin Janke for the dedication of a portrait of Judge Jones, painted by artist Art Slatten, and donated to the Supreme Court of Louisiana Historical Society by the Judges of the Fourth JDC. Following the courtroom ceremony, a reception was held in the Louisiana Supreme Court Museum, where friends and judiciary gathered to celebrate with Judge Jones and his family. Judge Jones was elected to the Fourth JDC four times without opposition and served as Chief Judge from 1999 through 2002. In 2009, Judge Jones served as an Associate Justice pro tempore on the Louisiana Supreme Court. In recognition of his outstanding judicial career, Judge Jones received the Distinguished Jurist Award in 2011 from the Louisiana Bar Foundation.
